Chakras Meditation:

Seven Chakras

In the ancient Hindu system there are seven main Chakras (Energy Vortexes), which are located along the spinal cord of each human being. Chakras are psychic centers that can't be described from the materialistic or physiological viewpoint; they are interrelated with the parasympathetic, sympathetic, and autonomic nervous systems.

Each chakra influences a different endocrine gland and nerve plexus, and correlates to different energy bodies. Chakra means wheel; they are also called lotus flowers, as each chakra has a certain number of leaves, petals, or spokes, which can be perceived by an advanced practitioner.

Yoga, mantra, meditation, visualization, breathing, chanting — all are used to become aware, to activate and to balance chakras.

Chakras functions are to circulate, absorb and distribute Prana (Universal Life Force) to the physical, and etheric bodies. The more the chakra can assimilate prana, the faster it can spin, and the more energy it has. The more balanced all our chakras, the more healthy and vital we feel.

When Kundalini (the primordial energy, dormant, coiled up at the base of the spine, and dynamic) integrates with prana, the chakras become vivified, and energized. Within kundalini the contact is made between the mystical Infinite Divine Energy of Consciousness (Lord Shiva), and the Mystical Energy of Creation (Goddess Shakti). To gain the highest spiritual potential, the great mass of kundalini energy locked in the root chakra must be released to travel through all seven chakras, up to the crown chakra.

Besides the main seven chakras there are numerous other energy centers within our bodies. The system of chakras, together with prana, kundalini, nadis (energy channels) and bindu (drops of essence) are components of an esoteric description of the "subtle body".

First Chakra – Muladhara, मूलाधार "root and basis of existence", "Foundation" Four Petal Lotus, Evolution, Physical
Element: Earth, Color: Red, Syllable: लं laṃ (Lam)

Located at the base of the spine near the coccygeal plexus (tailbone), first chakra rules our physical energies; it's a foundation of the "energy body", the root chakra that aids us in our everyday survival*

Muladhara

I am

MEDITATION:
First chakra is clear,
I feel deeply rooted, secure, grounded, and stable. I can use good "common sense" to balance my basic activities, my finances, as well as my everyday responsibilities, and still initiate new activities and interests. My eliminatory system functions well, neural activity in my legs and feet is healthy, and my ability to initiate sexual encounters is comfortable and natural. My root chakra is the home of Kundalini, the Sleeping Serpent. When this chakra is clear and balanced, "the Goddess Kundalini Shakti can awaken, and begin her gradual rise up towards reunion with Divine Lord Shiva (bringing Enlightenment)".

Second Chakra – Svadhisthana, स्वाधिष्ठान "where being is established", "Place Of Self", a Sacral Chakra
Six Petal Lotus, Procreation, Family

Element: Water, Color: Orange, Syllable: वं vaṃ

Located just below the navel, in the area of genitals (two finger-widths above first chakra in front of the body, barely below the belly button), it rules our sexual, emotional energies, unconscious desires*

Svadhisthana
I feel

MEDITATION:
Second chakra is clear, I feel patient, enduring, nurturing, and secure. I feel intimate with my family, friends, people, nature and the planet. I feel "at home" in my body, and is able to communicate with my "self". My emotions are balanced, and I'm able to trust my instincts and "gut feelings". My sex life is natural and loving, and I'm able to balance both male/female components of sexuality. I eat healthy food in the correct amount for my body's needs, and enjoy the comfort and nurturing free of any addictive behaviors. My elimination of waste material is regular, and my sex organs, colon, bladder, liver and kidneys are healthy.

Third Chakra – Manipura, मणिपूर "the city of gems", "Lustrous Gem", Power
Ten Petal Lotus, Metabolism, Digestion

Element: Fire, Color: Yellow, Syllable: ram ram

Located in the solar plexus, above the navel, third chakra rules our astral energies; home of Agni (digestive power), it is chakra of willpower, sun (solar, masculine), transformation, and our connection to dreamworld*

Manipura
I do

MEDITATION:
Third chakra is clear, I have a strong sense of personal power and self-motivation. My power struggles with others are minimal, because I accept responsibility for the creation of my own reality. Therefore, I do not feel victimized or controlled by others. If there is a problem in my life, I realize that "if it comes to me, it is mine to deal with". I have keen decision making abilities, strong will power, and good self-image. Since I take charge of my life, I have good health and vital energy. When I can balance masculine and feminine, negative-positive, thoughts and emotions, intuition and intellect, willpower and intent, and surrender to the soul, I can be conscious of many messages that come from the astral plane. I'm well protected, and able to shield myself from the "psychic pull" of others, because I'm able to distinguish my emotions from the emotions of others. I can do this because I have listened to my own astral world, as it communicates with me through dreams and imagination.

Fourth Chakra – Anahata, अनाहत "unstruc", "Heart Chakra", "Pure"
Twelve Petal Lotus, Love, Compassion
Element: Air, Color: Green, Syllable: yam, Ah or ॐ om

Located in the central channel of the spine at the heart, it rules our mental energies; it's a chakra of feminine, unity, balance, peace, the seat of the Dharmakaya or Buddha-nature*

Anahata

MEDITATION:
Fourth chakra is clear and balanced, I can experience love, compassion, acceptance and fulfillment. My heart, lungs and respiratory system is strong and healthy. I have a good immune system, and I feel strong, calm and joyful. I'm able to balance my masculine and feminine aspects, as well as human and divine aspects. My relationship with self, and with others is happy, and I have found my service to family, community, nation and the planet. My dear, deeply loved and loving heart is radiating, with divine wisdom-love energy reaching throughout the entire Universe.

Fifth Chakra – Vishuddha, विशुद्ध "especially pure", "Throat Chakra"
Sixteen Petal Lotus, Knowledge

Element: Sound, Color: Purple, Syllable: हं haṃ

Located at the throat region, near the spine, with its activation point in the pit of the throat, it rules our spiritual energies; it's a purification center, chakra of creativity and expression, speaking and siddhis*

Vishuddha
I speak

MEDITATION:
Fifth chakra is clear, I have good communication, expression, creativity, inspiration, and positive interactions with others. I speak with clarity and conviction. My metabolism is healthy, cholesterol levels are good, I have vital energy, and I feel strong physically and psychologically. I'm inspired to express my higher self, and have life enriched by creative expression. My relationships are based on truthful communication and true intimacy.

Six Chakra – Ajna or Agya, आज्ञा "brow", "Third Eye", "Authority", "Command", "Perceive", "Unlimited Power"

Ninety-Six Petal Lotus, Intuition, Intellect, Subconscious Mind, Vision
Element: Maha (all-inclusive pure essence), Color: Blue, Syllable: om

Located between the eyebrows, near the center of the brain, between the two hemispheres, in the area of Medulla, pineal plexus is correspondent with the pineal gland; it rules our cosmic body, it is a chakra of intuition and higher knowledge*

Ajna is described as a transparent lotus flower with two white petals, to represent the nadis (psychic channels) Ida and Pingala, which meet the central Sushumna before rising to the crown chakra Sahasrara

Ajna
I see

MEDITATION:
Six chakra is clear, there are enhanced intellectual and psychic abilities. Memory is good and perceptions are accurate. Sinuses are clear, hearing and vision is broadened by ability to use inner senses to amplify the information gained by the five physical senses. Through ability to consciously travel into the higher dimensions of inner reality, ability to visualize is amplified, imagination is expanded, and is able to project visions and ideas into the outer world.

Seventh Chakra – Sahasrara, सहस्रार "thousand-petaled", "Crown Chakra", "Pure Consciousness", Thousand Petal Lotus, The Guru Within

Element: "formless", Color: indigo, Syllable: void or om, aum; including all pure sounds

Located at the cerebral plexus, cranium, crown of the head, it's a chakra of pure illumination, the highest spiritual consciousness, the center of Samadhi*

Lotus flower with 1,000 petals of varied rainbow colors, arranged in 20 layers, each layer with approximately 50 petals

Sahasrara

I understand

MEDITATION:
Seventh chakra is clear, receives cosmic energy and is connected to cosmic consciousness. This state of consciousness perceives the Universal love, and the all-knowing true self. This reawakens ability to perceive the patterns of cause and effect, and the light matrixes that create the illusions of the holographic physical reality. Fully opened crown chakra perceives a sense of well-being, unity with all life, open mindedness, faith, and connection to everything in the Universe. It is "the higher self assisting in reprogramming the mind to the daily acceptance and integration of its own divinity".
